If you follow me on social media, then you might have seen the “something is coming” post from yesterday afternoon. If you missed it, all will be revealed now.
When I first decided to self-publish, Knox and Hazel weren’t even a thought in the back of my mind. I had been writing a contemporary erotic romance titled Relentless with two characters who had normal jobs and normal lives. I’d already hired a graphic designer for the cover and was well into half way through the book. But one day, the concept for I Am Lioness hit me out of left field and I decided it would be better suited as a debut than Relentless, more memorable if you will. So with every idea that followed, this story was pushed further and further onto the back burner.
Fast forward almost a year later to a conversation I was having with a reader about how maddening it was to pay $0.99 for a book that is roughly 30-40 Kindle pages. It’s not even so much a book as it is hefty chapters that are uploaded weekly, like a TV series. Which means the reader then has to pay another $0.99 to read the next chapter, and so on and so forth. If you add up how many times one has to pay 99 pennies in order to read the entire book, that’s way more money spent on a Kindle edition than one should ever pay. Don’t get me wrong, I totally understand every author needs to make a living, but that kind of money, especially for one e-book, is just inconceivable.
This is the moment inspiration struck.
The back burner where I continuously shoved random ideas that came to me was overflowing and I couldn’t help but ask myself, when will I publish these if ever at all? I had no answer because these stories, sadly, are not priority. Then I asked myself, what if I set these up on my website as a freebie for my readers? I instantly loved the idea but certain factors had me hesitating. When will I have the time to sit down and write any of these stories in full with my already busy schedule? Will my website allow so much to be uploaded at once? Am I selling myself short? Will anyone even read it? My head was spinning but thankfully, with the help of my best friend (who also knew about the situation above,) she encouraged me to try something similar. I would basically upload one chapter per week, making it easy to write in between actual releases, and it would be completely free for readers. So then I thought, what if I make it exclusive to my readers group? I mean, that’s one of the perks of being in a readers group, right? Exclusives, sneak peeks, first looks, etc.
And thus Club V.I.P was born.
I could go on and on about what exactly Club V.I.P is, but if you click here, you’ll find everything you need to know about it and how it all works.
I’m super excited to finally have an outlet where I can upload stories that would have likely gone unused otherwise, and I hope the concept behind it all intrigues you enough to stick around for each series to come. So without further ado, here is the cover for Club V.I.P’s Launch Series, Relentless!
Until next time,
